Summer Studentship

A crucial part of the Trust’s research is the Summer Studentship Programme, which began back in 1992. Each summer the Trust, through its sponsors, funds three or four medical students primarily at the University of Otago, Wellington, but in the past we have funded students in Auckland and Christchurch, to work on a research project over their summer holidays.

This research often results in a significant contribution to medical literature and provides an invaluable research opportunity for young talented medical students.

In the 2013/14 summer, the Trust will be funding four studentships on the following research projects:
  1. Deformity correction in scoliosis surgery: sponsored by phil&teds.

  2. Outcomes of patients undergoing intermittent self-dilation for urethral stricture: sponsored by the Museum Art Hotel.

  3. Drug intervention study for obesity hypoventilation: sponsored by Ideas Shop.

  4. ECGs and clinical outcomes following acute coronary syndromes: sponsored by ARTrove.

The students chosen to work on each project will be announced soon.
